A call for a Day of Fasting, Abstinence and Prayer. A call for a
Day of Fasting, Abstinence and Prayer
For Peace and Reconciliation in the Holy Land
The Latin
Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, has called for a day
of fasting, abstinence, and prayer for peace and reconciliation in the Holy
Land.
He invites all
parishes and religious communities to pray on Tuesday, 17thOctober,
the feast of St Ignatius of Antioch.
Cardinal
Pizzaballa has encouraged prayer times to be organised with Eucharistic
Adoration and the recitation of the Rosary to Our Blessed Virgin Mary,
in a simple, sober and communal manner.
In support of Cardinal Pizzaballa’s urgent call, Pope
Francis called during this Sunday’s Angelus on all the faithful around the
world to heed the Latin Patriarch’s invitation. For more information, please

A Prayer for Peace
Lord Jesus Christ,
You are the true King of peace.
Please free our world from
conflict.
Bring unity to troubled nations.
Let Your glorious peace reign in every heart.
Dispel all darkness with
Your love.
Glorious Virgin Mary,
Saint Michael the Archangel,
All angels and saints:
Please pray for peace.
Pray for unity among nations.
Pray for unity amongst all people.
Pray for the most vulnerable.
Pray for victims.
Pray for those suffering.
Pray for the fearful.
Pray for those most in need.
Pray for us all.
Jesus, Son of
the Living God, have mercy on us.
Jesus, hear our prayers.
Jesus, I trust in You!
Amen.
